Johannesburg, Gauteng, SA - Charles Atala was appointed secretary of the General Goods, Bags & Leather Employers Association of SA in June last year following the death of long-serving secretary Theo Hefer.
His background includes client liaising and consulting in HR Policies and administration, and he has general skills in customer relationship and business management.
His roles include attending and delegate all council meetings of the National Bargaining Council; attending all management meetings of the council as spokesperson, representative and delegate, including the Admin Committee meetings, Leather Industry and Sick Fund meetings; leading the association’s negotiating team and acting as spokesperson at annual negotiations with the party trade unions and for all other agreements for the sector; electronic communication to seek mandates from our members in the various areas as well as arrange report-backs.
