Cape Town, W. Cape, SA - National Clothing Retail Federation of SA (NCRF) executive director Michael Lawrence said most of his time since October had been spent on the implementation of the Master Plan.

"You should be seeing more local product in those chain retailers which have signed up for the plan," he said.

"The NCRF feels we need to take a long, hard look at input costs for manufacturers to assist them to reach the kinds of prices that chain retailers need.

"For example, the R-CTFL stakeholders have applied for a rebate on imported fabric, which we understand is being favourably considered.

"We're taking a data-driven approach to this. It's not possible to save everything, so we're focusing on what can be saved, what can be made, competitively, locally, and where it makes sense to invest in new technology to achieve that."
