Yankees: Month-end spending spree

Rustenburg, N.W. Province – Overall, February was "a good month", said Anver Carrim, member of men's outfitter Colam Trading cc, trading as Yankees.
      "Over the last 4 days, the 24th to the 27th, there was a lot of movement and sales, which pushed us up, figure-wise.
      "I can't really explain it. It was a spending spree, I think people saved money during the booze ban, and I think people needed to get out and shop."
      He said he was buying less expensive and more core styles, "but in fact I've increased my buy - I feel stock is safer, provided you stick with core products, like basic Grasshoppers and traditional and classic Bishop and Crockett & Jones. The reps are also encouraging me to stick with basics."
