Johannesburg, Gauteng, SA - Marco Di Lembo, the owner of Villani Shoes, died tragically on April 06, aged 47.
Born in Johannesburg to Michele and Rosella Di Lembo, he went to Robertsham Primary Junior School before progressing to Sir John Adamson High School. While in high school, Marco matured and earned academic distinctions and participated in the sport of football.
Marco graduated from Sir John Adamson High School in 1991. After high school, Marco studied marketing and sales. Once he joined the shoe factory he worked with overseas stylists, and last makers and in the factory learning to make quality shoes.
Marco was employed within the family business, Villani Shoes for 29 years as a sales representative; and then became the head designer and eventual sole owner of the company.
Villani Shoes was at one stage comprised of two factories, one in Natal, and one in Johannesburg, and manufactured a total of 800 pairs of shoes per day, all in full grain leather. The two main brands that the company became well known for were Arno and Gianluca.
Villani will remain open for business under his son, Michele, and the selling agents are mainly Wayne and Anthony Matthysen, and Ed Althorpe.
Candice and Andrea Bottega head up finance, and if need be I will be acting in an advisory capacity.
Our design team in Italy, and numerous suppliers will still be able to provide the quality shoes that Villani has been known to supply.
Marco’s favourite sport was football, and he enjoyed playing golf, and spending time with his children and family.
He leaves behind his memories to his children Michele, Tannica and Matteo, to his parents, to me, his brother, and to a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
