Johannesburg, Gauteng, SA - Distribution of Sebago in southern Africa shifted to the Crick Group from Medicus at the beginning of 2022, in line with the change of ownership of the brand in 2017 from U.S.-based Wolverine World Wide to Italian company BasicNet S.p.A.

Inside the Gateway concept store: Sebago has historically been viewed in SA as a boat shoe brand, but it covers the spectrum of apparel, leather goods and travel goods, for men and women.

The Crick Group distributes 2 other BasicNet brands, Kappa and Superga, while Medicus continues with Wolverine brands Caterpillar Footwear and Merrell, as well as G.H. Bass & Co.
Crick CEO Michael Joseph said Sebago would remain mainly a wholesale business, with the addition of 3 concept stores this year. The first 2, in Gateway, Durban, and Menlyn, Pretoria, opened at the beginning of March. The third, in Sandton City, will open in September.
