Expanding horizons: Leveraging African trade opportunities with SAFLEC's outward selling missions
The South African Footwear and Leather Export Council (SAFLEC) is paving the way for its members to tap into African markets to grow their businesses through strategic outward selling and inward buying missions. These missions, tailored to maximize market presence and drive sales, are a game-changer for South African footwear and leather goods manufacturers.
In predominantly informal markets, outward selling missions are proving to be highly effective. These missions are meticulously designed to include pre-arranged B2B meetings with potential buyers. This targeted approach significantly enhances the chances of successful deals and long-term partnerships. The inward buying missions are to ensure that we can boast our ability to supply on home ground.
Next month, a delegation of buyers from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) will visit South Africa. This inward mission is part of SAFLEC's strategic direction to combine inward and outward initiatives, providing a holistic approach to market expansion.
Global Market Opportunities
Regardless of funding from the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (dtic) programmes, all can benefit from these opportunities. The council negotiates stand space to accommodate members not funded by dtic, on a case-by-case basis and upon request allowing everyone to participate and showcase their products on the international stage.
For larger companies already engaged in export activities, SAFLEC offers a bespoke approach. The council works closely with companies, guided by their strategies and needs, to provide personalized support and enhance their market position. We do this by helping with contacts, connections, case studies, training. Information sharing, and even stands at trade events in some cases, where SAFLEC is able negotiate the space. Via other stakeholder relationships are we able to offer part support in travel.
SAFLEC encourages all members to leverage these African trade opportunities through African outward/inward missions. These missions are a valuable tool for expanding market reach.
SAFLEC remains committed to supporting the South African footwear and leather goods industry. Join SAFLEC in expanding your horizons and achieving greater heights in the global market.
