Fusion achieves LWG silver rating

Cape Town, W. Cape, SA – Fusion Leather World (Pty) Ltd is the 11th South African tannery to become a Leather Working Group (LWG) certified supplier. It has been awarded a silver rating.
“It’s now expected of leather exporters to have certification,” said MD Denzil Spolander. “Most of our growth will be from exports of leather, rather than from supplying footwear exporters, and the domestic market is shrinking, especially on the leather footwear side.”
He said there “wasn’t that much more to do to achieve gold rating”, and that it had mainly revolved around water issues “where we would have needed input from the Cape Town Municipality, and it isn’t their policy to share that information”.
