BBF buys Quality Safety

Group's product range will now cover most PPE categories

Pinetown (SA) – BBF Safety Group announced on Friday that it had bought Randvaal-based Quality Safety 1990 (Pty) Ltd from founder Brian Bland for an undisclosed sum. The deal is subject to "a number of regulatory conditions" and will be effective from November 1.
This is its second acquisition of a non-safety footwear PPE company this year, indicating its intention to become a comprehensive PPE brand. In July it acquired the operations of Pinnacle OSH Holdings, a provider of workplace safety advisory, consulting and training services.
Quality Safety was originally founded by Bland in 1978, according to the company website, and it claims to "rank among the largest local manufacturing companies, surpassing multinational companies, in the industry". Its range covers a broad range of PPE products for a broad range of industries.
In a release, BBF executive chairman Wolfgang Beier said the acquisition "serves to further enhance and entrench our position as a deep-rooted South African group of companies, whose vision it is to be a leader in the fields of transformation, entrepreneurial development and localisation.
"Quality Safety... built an enviable reputation over the past three decades. It is this legacy that we wish to nurture and expand into the future. I would like to assure all customers that business will continue as usual and that the same dedicated Quality Safety employees you work with today, will be here tomorrow."
