They Said It"Nah. You need pretty young things." - Gale Rice of Courteney Boot in response to a request for a photo to go with her comments in the Barometer in the S&V Footwear & Leather Goods magazine, coming out tomorrow. "I’m down for Mano’s service tomorrow, Saturday. Been a day. Byo Jhb flight departure delayed, and then the pilot warned us that a serious thunderstorm was brewing over Jhb so we’d have an interesting journey in. And so it was. Spectacular boiling frothing columns and towers of clouds, and our pilot weaved and banked around them so it was a thrilling ride. Not so thrilling thereafter though. Driving slashing rain and a long delay in the terminal before getting on the bus for the Dbn plane, then from the bus to the plane in the rain - we were all soaked. We sat on the tarmac for another hour in a queue to get out of there. Once we’d taken off the pilot told us that planes were being diverted and we had only just got out of there in time. So, very late into King Shaka." - Gale again. She made the trip from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, especially for the funeral of Mano Chetty (see death notice).
