Universal: Liquidator seeks way to release containers

Cape Town, W. Cape, SA – The liquidator of Universal Footwear & Trading (Pty) Ltd is negotiating with the shipping company holding 6 containers in port.
      "Universal doesn't have the funds to clear them," he said, "and they want too much, but we'll keep trying."
      Chris van Zyl of Progressive Administration said the company, which went into voluntary liquidation on 04 March, was "clearly insolvent, with liabilities substantially exceeding assets", according to the documents he had.
      He said "1 creditor in particular" had pressurised Universal to the extent it had applied for voluntary liquidation.

ABSA Agri Trends: Hides & skins prices

Johannesburg, Gauteng, SA (31 March 2022) - The current average hide price decreased by 1.4% to R6.83kg from R6.92kg a week ago. The current price is 0.7% lower than the average price a month ago and is 5.2% higher than the average price a year ago. The range of prices reported was as follows: Minimum price: R5.47 Maximum price: R7.00. Please note: Our methodology weighs the prices we collect according to the number of hides they sell in a month. This is done to make it more representative of the prevailing market price.
